3 of a family killed as car falls into pit
As many as three persons from a family died on the spot when their car toppled in the roadside pit after the driver lost control over the vehicle, at Thuvarankurichi near here on Thursday.

The deceased persons were identified as Vellayan (68), his wife Chinnammal (58) and their son-in-law Jayaraman (33), who was on the wheels of the vehicle.Â
On Wednesday night, the couple along with their son-in-law were on their way to meet their son Pichaimani (32) in Madurai, who ran a textile shop there.
Around 2 am on Thursday at Yagapuram near Thuvarankurichi, Jayaraman reportedly dozed off while driving the car and therefore, lost control over the vehicle. As a result, the car toppled into a 10-foot deep roadside pit, killing all the three occupants of the vehicle on the spot.
On information, Thuvarankurichi police rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies and sent them to Manapparai Government Hospital for post mortem. Further investigation is on.
