15th Finance Panel to visit TN from today
The Fifteenth Finance Commission of the Government of India is visiting the state from September 5 to 9 to understand economic issues of the state and some other peculiar issues related to the southern part of the country, a release stated.

Tamil Nadu will be the second state in southern India after Kerala to be visited by the Commission.
The Fifteenth Finance Commission led by Chairman NK Singh and other members will have meetings with the Chief Minister, other Ministers and officials of the state when detailed presentations would be made on finances of the state.Â
Ahead of the meeting with Chief Minister, the Commission will also meet economists of the region in Chennai on September 5, according to the release.
Meetings would also be held with leaders of various political parties, representatives of the trade and industry, urban local bodies and Panchayati Raj institutions.Â
The Commission is also expected to undertake field visits in Madurai and pay a visit to the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial in Rameswaram.
The release also stated that ahead of the visit, the Commission understood various aspects of its finances and issues related to socio-economic spheres from the Accountant General of Tamil Nadu.
