    Mega plan to provide tenements to 1.96 cr hut dwellers in state, says Panneerselvam

    The AIADMK government is working on an ambitious project to construct 12 lakh slum clearance board tenements by 2028 and provide houses to 1.96 crore persons living in huts in the State, informed deputy chief minister O Paneerselvam on Monday.

    Addressing a gathering in Vellore, Paneerselvam, while listing the achievements of the AIADMK, government said that of the total 12 lakh tenements, 4 lakh were nearing completion.

    Pointing out that 48 per cent of the State Government’s revenue was earmarked for social welfare scheme through which mixers, fans, grinders were disbursed, he said, “Such initiatives were a proof of Jayalalithaa’s commitment to uplift the standard of living of the poor.”

    Turning his focus towards the AMMK, the deputy CM said, “When Jayalalithaa announced me as the candidate for Bodinaickanur, six of Sasikala’s relatives were exclusively deputed to work on the field to defeat me,” he added.

    Other speakers, including former minister KP Munusamy, power minister P Thangamani, labour minister Nilofer Khafeel and commercial taxes minister KC Veeramani attacked AMMK Deputy general secretary TTV, who criticised the ruling party during a public meeting at the same venue on August 19.
