Will oppose BJP and Modi if EPS directs us: Rajenthra Bhalaji
Dairy Minister KT Rajenthra Bhalaji, who is known for his controversial speech, has landed in a fresh controversy after reversing his stand on the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chennai
Bhalaji on previous occasions had openly voiced his support for Modi and on AIADMK forming alliance with the saffron party.
When TTV Dhinakaran, founder of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), threatened to dissolve the State government, Bhalaji, in a public meeting at Andipatti in Theni district, openly admitted that Modi is behind them and he will save the party.
On another occasion, when asked about the chances of AIADMK forming coalition with BJP during a press meet in Chennai, he replied that there was nothing wrong in AIADMK having alliance with the BJP and that they had a tie-up twice in the past.
However, speaking at a public meeting in Sivakasi on Saturday, the dairy minister reversed his stand on Modi and the BJP and criticised them indirectly.
In his speech, he made an indirect reference to Modi and said that AIADMK supporters are ready to oppose anyone if the party high command directs them to do so.
“We are not afraid. We are not doing submissive politics. We are grateful to him as he helped us on an occasion but if Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, directs us we will oppose anyone,” said Bhalaji.
He also made a veiled comment on the BJP by saying that if the party sees AIADMK in a disdainful manner they will be opposed.
“We competed against former DMK supremo M Karunanidhi for a long time and these people (BJP leaders) have only recently mushroomed. We will show what we are capable of,” the minister said.
