Newborn girl rescued from bush
A newborn girl was found in a gunny bag dumped in bushes in Cheyyatraivendran village, near Cheyyar town, in the district on Monday.
Tiruvannamalai
A group of children after finishing their cricket game near Tank Street in Cheyyatraivendran started chasing poultry birds in the vicinity. One of them heard the wails of a child. On spotting the child under coconut fronds and some foliage, the children alerted their parents.Â
Sujatha (37), along with a group of residents, rushed to the spot to check the condition of the infant. She took the baby home and cleaned it up before handing it over to the Anakavur police. The police took the child to the Government Hospital, Cheyyar, on Tuesday. The boys said raw blood was found on the infant when they found her. Sources said the umbilical cord was not properly cut and the child would have been a couple of hours old.Â
The police said the doctors examined the child and sent it to the neonatal ward. A case has been registered and cops are inquiring to find out the person/s who abandoned the child
