TTV blames state for improper maintenance of barrages
The state government should assuage public fear by ensuring the safety of dams in various districts, AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran said on Thursday.
Vellore
Interacting with reporters in Vellore, he said shutters being washed away on Kollidam River at Mokkumbu in Tiruchy district, was due to lack of proper maintenance. The state government should seek technical help to widen and deepen water bodies all over Tamil Nadu to ensure that water was not wasted, he added. In a lighter vein he added that the above would come about only if there was a change of government.
Referring to complaints of Cauvery Delta tail end farmers for not getting water while some parts of the state faced floods and water was emptied into the sea, he said AMMK would agitate with the concerned farmers on September 2. Farmer leader PR Pandian would also participate, he added.
Referring to DMK’s RS Bharathi filing a case regarding Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami increase in wealth, Dhinakaran said details were released by former MLAs P Vetrivel and Thangatamizhselvan.
The DMK which was earlier cosying to the AIADMK went to court when the government refused to allow deceased DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi to be buried on Marina beach, he said.
In Vellore district, AIADMK and DMK were hand in glove thanks to Commercial taxes Minister KC Veeramani. Both parties shared contracts and other works on a 60:40 basis, he said. “We will move the court in this connection” he added.
