NASA to launch micro satellite built by TN students on Friday
NASA is all set to launch the world’s lightest micro satellite developed by four engineering students from Tamil Nadu on Friday. Weighing only 33.39 grams, Jaihind-1S, will be used to check the functioning of nylon in microgravity or space.

The satellite can also record details about the temperature, pressure, altitude, UV ray intensity, acceleration in x, y and z direction, pitch, yaw, rolling movement of the rocket or balloon.
The micro satellite team received technical report and authentication certificate from the Department of Aerospace Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) recently, paving the way for the NASA launch.
Accordingly, the satellite, which was declared as the lightest by India Book of Records, will be launched in NASA’s Balloon program Office test flight SIFT mission from NASA’s Columbia scientific balloon facility in Fort Sumner, New Mexico on August 24 at 6 am.
