Tamil Nadu bizmen form website to help Kerala flood victims find shelter

Lending a helping hand to support the millions in Kerala who has lost their homes in the torrential monsoon rains that ravaged it, a group of entrepreneurs from Tamil Nadu have joined hands to start a platform, www.eachonehostone.com, to support those in Kerala in need of shelter.

“We have come across a number of people within and outside Tamil Nadu who have expressed an interest in helping the victims of the flood. However, unaware of whom to approach or where to search, they find it difficult to help the needy,” said Santhosh Muruganantham, one of the founders.

The spirit to offer help came from having faced the same struggle during the Chennai floods in 2015, he said.

“I stayed overnight at my neighbour’s place. There are many people out there who actually want to open their doors to those rendered homeless. But a platform was needed. We cannot merely expect the government to help them; we all need to lend them a helping hand,” said Lisha P, another founder.

Anyone from anywhere in the country can use the platform to reach out, Santhosh said, adding: “Anyone who wishes to open their homes, or hotels or institutions to victims in Kerala can upload their information on the website. They can state the availability of facilities so that those need can plan accordingly.”
