‘Act against docs for wrong diagnosis’

Navaneetha Krishnan said his wife Yasmin (26) had developed a pregnancy-like symptom in October 2017, following which she was taken to a private hospital in Anna Nagar, Madurai. The doctors there confirmed that she was pregnant. 

After a few days, Yasmin was taken to the Viraganoor PHC for further check-up. Subsequently, the couple was provided with an antenatal care book, which records treatment provided by health care professionals at regular intervals. The PHC also finalised a date in July 2018 for the baby’s delivery. 

Although Yasmin’s stomach had become bloated, she did not experience any pregnancy related pain during the period. When the couple contacted the PHC, they were advised to approach the Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital. 

After diagnosing Yasmin, doctors there said she was not pregnant but seemed to have a tumour in her stomach. However, a scan test later revealed that there was no such tumour. Seeking compensation for the mental agony caused to them, Krishnan demanded action against the doctors for negligence of duty.
