Primary schools to get new age science kit
The government primary schools in Tamil Nadu, for the first time, will get an advanced "science kit box" to help students conceptualise science subjects better.

The kit box consisting of 30 various items including a life size model of a human skeleton, model of human teeth, working model of human lungs, model of human heart and a model of the torso.
Accordingly, Tamil Nadu Text Book and Educational Services Corporation has been entrusted in procuring the "science kit box" for more than 24,000 primary schools in the State.
"As many as 24,115 primary schools in Tamil Nadu will be benefited by this kit," a senior official from the Education Department told DTNext. The official said all the product will be supplied by December this year. He added that the kit has been developed keeping the new science text books in mind.
Explaining the contents of the kit, the official said the model of human skeleton, which will be made of synthetic durable and unbreakable material, can be dismantled into legs, hands, jointed skull, rib cage, vertebral column and hip bone painted in natural colour.
Accordingly, the human teeth model will also be embedded into gums. Apart from high quality syringe, working model of human lungs, model of human heart, and simple stethoscope, other scientific items such as model of windmill with motor attached, solar panel with LED bulb, rain gauge, kitchen weighing machine, and electromagnetic induction box will be available in the kit. The official pointed out that all the items in the kit box will be portable and convenient to use.
"All the concepts of Physics, Chemistry and Biology can be learnt experimentally by the student from Class 3 to Class 8," he added.
He said that Newton’s cradle, which is a part of the kit, can be used to demonstrate all of Newton’s laws to the children.
“Other items, which will be used for Chemistry lessons, such as a conical flask, beaker, inter connecting jars of different shapes, wash bottles and iron fillings will also be available in the kit,” he added.
