Kamal thrilled over Gram Sabha meetings
Expressing delight over the public participation in gram sabhas organised across the State, actor-turned-politican Kamal Haasan on Wednesday described those who took part in the meetings as “the internal army that fights corruption.”

In a tweet, Kamal said, “I am thrilled at the public participation for gram sabha in Tamil Nadu. We are celebrating our Independence with understanding. March on gram sabhas. You are the internal army that fights corruption and the enemies of our Nation. You are an army. Pay attention.”
It may be recalled that Kamal had earlier exhorted the public to revive the institution of gram sabhas. He posted a video from his channel that urged all people to attend the gram sabhas.
He said that public voice against government schemes such as the Chennai-Salem expressway or private operations like Sterlite can be registered through the gram sabhas.
Members of his Makkal Needhi Maiam attended the gram sabha held in Adigathur, a village in Tiruvallur district that the party adopted recently.
Resolutions for the construction of a building for fair price shops in the Irular colony, repair and maintenance of street lights and steps to be taken to solve drinking water issues were passed. A resolution was also passed calling for the local body elections to be conducted at the earliest.
