‘Separate bench to hear cases against advocates needed’
Justice PN Prakash of the Madras High Court on Wednesday expressed the need for constituting a division bench to hear cases against advocates.
Chennai
He was hearing a plea moved by KS Jagannathan of Dharmapuri seeking a direction to act against the advocates involved in grabbing of his property.
Justice Prakash, on referring to the recent incident in a Subordinate court complex when the 17 people accused in the rape of a minor were manhandled by a group of advocates, said, “I would like to place a request before the Chief Justice to form a Division Bench to hear the cases in which the allegations against the advocates are made.”
The petitioner submitted that out of the seven accused in the case of land grabbing, four of them were advocates.
But the Central Crime Branch, which registered a case, has arrested just one person, who is a land broker. Citing this, the petitioner sought for a direction from the Court to act against the remaining accused.
