    In a latest incident of suicide, a Class 7 boy of Paramathi in Karur district, who was reportedly reprimanded by his headmaster, on Tuesday, ended his life in his house.

    Shocked by the boy’s extreme step, parents and relatives staged a road rook demanding the arrest of the class teacher and the headmaster. They also refused to accept the body until there demand was accepted.

    Sources said that S Arul Prakasam (12), son of Suresh, a TNSTC driver from Periyar Nagar of Paramathi in Karur, was a Class 7 student of Paramathi government higher secondary school. Arul along with his friends was playing kabaddi in the school on Monday and had pushed a boy, who sustained injuries and was later taken to the hospital.

    The PET and Mathematics teacher had reportedly scolded Arul and asked him to bring his parents to the school the next day. Panicked by this, the boy hung himself in his house on Monday night. Though parents rushed him to the Karur GH, doctors declared him brought dead. 

    In a suicide note, which was found by his parents, the boy had narrated the incidents at the school, which forced him to take the extreme step.

    The autopsy of the body was completed on Tuesday. But parents, relatives and residents of Paramathi refused to accept the body and staged a road roko, demanding action against the school headmaster Sathasivam, PET and Mathematics teachers Jayapaul and Senthil respectively. 

    On information, a team, led by DSP Kummaraja and CEO Anathanarayanan, rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters. Later, the CEO ordered the transfer of PET teacher to Aandipatti Kottai government higher secondary school, while the Mathematics teacher was shifted to Nerur government higher secondary school.
