Amma Health Scheme gets automated blood analyser
Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar inaugurated the automated blood group analyser at the Amma Master Health Check-up Scheme Centre at the Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital in Omandurar Estate on Tuesday.

While inaugurating the blood group analyser installed at a cost of Rs 4 lakh, the Minister said, “Using this device, blood group of 12 people can be found in nine minutes. In the last 50 days, 2,010 people have benefitted from this scheme and the analyser will only help add strength to the scheme.”
“During the check up at the centre, 177 people were reported to have high blood pressure, 355 people were diagnosed with diabetes, four with heart related diseases, 14 people with thyroid, 23 women with womb cancer, 17 women with breast cancer and 11 with stones in gallbladder. Surgeries for women with breast cancer were carried out in the hospital and all of them are recovering,” the Minister said.
He said that these centres will be opened at Salem, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tiruchy, Thanjavur and Tirunelveli Government Medical College Hospitals shortly, before being extended to other government medical college hospitals as well.
It may be noted that the Amma Health Scheme is being implemented in 410 government hospitals across the states and 41.47 lakh people have been benefitted from the scheme.
