Pudukkottai agriculture dept officer found dead with injuries in car

R Boopathy Kannan (45) was married to Anu Radha, who works at the Tiruchy Collector’s office as an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in District Rural Development Agency (DRDA).

Kannan had, reportedly, left the office around 6 pm but never reached home. His wife tried to reach him on his mobile but in vain.

On Saturday morning the locals found Kannan’s body flung on the car in a remote location in Mathur near the Mathur-Thanjavur highway with multiple injuries. Mathur police rushed to the spot. A case was registered and Boopathy’s body was sent to the Pudukkottai Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Subsequently, the police informed his wife who identified the body. Forensic experts analysed the crime scene. The Pudukkottai SP S Selvaraj and Tiruchy Range DIG R Lalitha Lakshmi also investigated the spot personally. Special teams have been formed to investigate the murder. Kannan is survived by his wife and a daughter.

The police found innerwear and footwear of a woman and suspect that he might have been killed over an illicit relationship. Further investigation is on.
