A 52-year-old headmaster of the panchayat union elementary school at Kalasapakkam in Tiruvannamalai district was on Saturday suspended by Chief Educational Officer V Jayakumar for allegedly misbehaving with a Class 5 girl student.

Talking to DTNext, Jayakumar said, “Such an act of misconduct is not expected from a school headmaster with more than 25 years of teaching experience.”
Subramani had misbehaved with the minor girl on Monday earlier this week, following which she complained to her parents.
The girl’s father berated Subramani the same day. He was also severely thrashed by local people. The headmaster, who then went on a medical leave, rejoined duty on Saturday.
Agitated over this, an angry public locked up the school which has a total student strength of 140. Local education officials informed them of Subramani’s suspension. Subsequently, classes were conducted without hindrance, Jayakumar added. Kalasapakkam police are investigating into the issue.
Meanwhile, the girl has been admitted in a nearby government school by her parents.
