A press release issued by the party here stated that Vaiko had conveyed to Vijayan that about 12 lakh tonne of rocks would be broken to dig the tunnel for the project and doing so would cause cracks in the nearby Mullaperiyar and Idukki dams. The Union government is trying to implement the project on the insistence of the United States.Â
The nuclear weapons in any part of the world could be activated from the laboratory, Vaiko charged. Recalling that he had given a detailed letter to Vijayan on the dangerous impacts of the neutrino project, Vaiko said the Forest and Environment ministry of Kerala government should not grant permission to the project, stated an press release issued here by MDMK.Â
In return, the Kerala CM had promised to fully analyse the project details and then take a suitable action. Vaiko also met Kerala Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala in this regard. Chennithala was invited to take part in the MDMK State conference scheduled on September 15 in Erode.
