As per the latest reports, Supreme Court has agreed to hear CBSE plea challenging Madras High Court order awarding grace marks to NEET students and stayed Madras High Court's order granting 196 grace marks to NEET students who took exam in Tamil.
In Tamil Nadu this year, as many as 1.2 lakh appeared for the NEET entrance examination for medical education. However, post the announcement of the results it came to light that the Tamil question paper had translation errors and the students who wrote the exam in Tamil had not been able to secure good score.Â
The petitioner who filed this, a CPI (M) MP TK Rangarajan had submitted that 49 questions were mistranslated and hence 4 marks each must be awarded to students in the Madurai bench of Madras High Court.Â
Judge Cd Selvam and AM Peshir Ahmad, who were hearing the petition, had ordered the '196 marks of 4 marks for a question as 49 questions asked in Tamil in the NEET examination for medical examination were wrong.' Furthermore, the High Court asked the CBSE to publish the re-charting list.
In its petition filed at the Supreme Court, CBSE said that it had entrusted the duty of translating the question paper to the experts recommended by the TN government.
The CBSE demanded a ban on the judgment of the Madras High Court and moved Supreme Court. The appeal was taken up by the Supreme Court which said that it will take up the CBSE request to inquire into the case immediately on 20th of Friday (Friday).Â
