The School Education Department is taking steps to set up a total of 412 NEET training centres across the State, apart from the 10 residential centres.

Last year, the free NEET coaching for students studying Class 12 started after a prolonged delay in December.

“Taking that into consideration, the government has initiated steps to start it from August first week itself this year,” an official said.

“While 75,000 enrolled for the coaching last year, more than 1 lakh students are expected to register in the current year. Students, who failed in the NEET last time, will also be eligible to join the upcoming batch,” he added. “Initially, the coaching will be conducted on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm,” he said adding that the training will be extended on weekdays three months ahead of NEET exam.

It may be noted that the government has tied up with SPEED Institute to offer the coaching. A study kit, which will contain question banks and separate books for each subject, will be distributed to the students during the first week of their training session.
