Suresh Kumar told the enquiry commission that Jayalalithaa was transferred to the ambulance in an unconscious state on a stretcher from her Poes Garden residence on September 22, 2016. Sasikala and Dr Sivakumar, Jayalalithaa’s physician, accompanied her. The driver added that since he had been in the front, he was not aware of what happened inside the ambulance during the journey to the Apollo hospitals.

Meanwhile, S Gurumurthy, editor of Tughlak magazine, requested the enquiry commission to withdraw the summons issued to him. He was due to appear before the commission on Wednesday, the second time he had been sent summons.

Gurumurthy sent a petition through his lawyer stating that he did not have any knowledge about Jayalalithaa’s illness and her hospitalisation. He added that he had met her only once when he accompanied Cho Ramasamy during a visit. For the above reasons he requested | that the summons sent to him be withdrawn.
