The Union Minister is making charges without evidence, he said and swindling Rs 5,000 from procurement for Rs 4,000 crores could be a joke of the century, he said and asked didn’t any child take eggs in the last four years.

Jayakumar also accused the Union Minister of shifting his opinion everyday and said Radhakrishnan made the allegation first and then he denied that he had made such an accusation but repeated the allegation at Nagercoil again.

When asked about the allegations of corruption made by Leader of Opposition MK Stalin, the Minister said the DMK paid 116 per cent instead of  100 per cent for contracts in PWD and Water Resources.

During DMK rule, single tender was issued to about 80 contracts, he said and added that the estimates for the new Secretariat building built during the DMK rule was revised thrice.

The Minister was talking to the media after paying homage to Sankaralinganar, who died after fasting for many days for the demand of naming the then Madras presidency as Tamil Nadu.

Jayakumar also denied that the ongoing income tax raids were political and said those who had evaded paying of income tax alone need to fear about it. When asked if the income tax raids were a sign of deteriorating relations between the AIADMK and BJP, the Minister said, “We have only government to government relations and the AIADMK as a party has no links with the BJP.” He also defended the Chennai-Salem Expressway saying, “Even Chennai city was a fishing hamlet once and it had natural vegetation everywhere.”
