Infrastructure push: CM inaugurates new bridges, projects in Tamil Nadu
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday inaugurated a host of new projects including two underground drainage (UGD) projects in Greater Chennai Corporation at a total cost of Rs 95 crore through video conferencing.

Palaniswami, apart from the UGD projects inaugurated 13 parks and two enhanced children play grounds in Ambattur. The one in Madhavaram at a cost of Rs 35 crore and another project in Puthagaram and Kadhirvedu at a cost of Rs 60 crore were opened. The park situated in Mugalivakkam costs Rs 85 lakh, two parks in Ennore at a cost of Rs 84 lakh, six parks in Madhavaram Zone at the cost of Rs 2.72 crore, three parks in Ambattur zone, at the cost of Rs 1 crore, two parks in Alandur zone at the cost of Rs 1.1 crore were also inaugurated.
Bridges: Palaniswami also inaugurated 10 bridges including three railway overbridges at the total cost of Rs 160.34 crore. The three railway bridges are constructed at Coimbatore, Tiruchy and Dharmapuri districts.
In Coimbatore, the railway overbridge had been constructed at Pothanur, at the cost of Rs 22.6 crore. In Tiruchy, it had been constructed at MSP camp road at the cost of Rs 74 crore and in Dharmapuri, the railway overbridge had been constructed at Kumarasamipettai at the cost of Rs 22.6 crore. As far as the road bridges are concerned, they are constructed in the districts of Cuddalore, Tiruppur, Erode, Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli districts. In Cuddalore, the bridges were constructed across Vellar near Buvanagiri at a cost of Rs 22.57 crore and between Nandimangalam and Pulamedu at a cost of Rs 7.32 crore. In Tiruppur, the bridge was constructed at the cost of Rs 1.65 crore in Valavadi-Therkuboodhanam Road.
In Erode, the bridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 1.6 crore at Nagarpalayam Road. In Thoothukudi, the bridges were constructed in Sankarankovil-Nalatinpudhur Road at a cost of Rs 2 crore and at Thalavaipuram at Rs 2 crore. In Tirunelveli, the bridge was constructed in Surandai on Rs crore.
2 sub-treasury offices
Palaniswami also inaugurated two sub-treasury offices, one at Avadi and another one at Ponnamaravathi, in Pudukkottai district, at a total cost of Rs 1.4 crore. For administrative convenience, to reduce the rent paid to the private buildings, for effective implementation of e-Governance schemes such as Automated Treasury Bill Passing System (ATBPS) and e-Pension, to protect stamp papers and important documents, to provide necessary facilities for pensions and to provide ramp for differently-abled persons, former chief minister J Jayalalithaa had announced construction of own buildings for sub-treasury offices.
As announced 55 buildings were constructed in the last six years and construction of 21 buildings are underway.
