A man from Nepal was thrashed by locals for trying to steal cows and handed over to the police at Banavaram on Wednesday.
Vellore
Sesavan (48) was residing at Venkateswara Nagar in Banavaram with his mother Amudha (68). The family used to tie their cows behind the house in a thatched shed.
On Wednesday night, Amudha woke up on hearing some sound near the cow shed. When Amudha checked, she saw two men near the door of the shed. She raised an alarm and her son with neighbours rushed to the spot.
While one managed to escape, another person, who was caught, was thrashed by locals before being handed over to the police. As the caught person conversed only in Hindi, cops brought in a ‘translator’. Later, the person was identified as Ramlath Soran (33), a resident of Nepal. Police took him to the station.
