One crore members in Rajini camp, party soon?
Rajini Makkal Mandram, the nodal body for all Rajinikanth fan clubs that was established once the superstar announced his intention to enter politics, is nearing the one crore membership mark. Within six months since the actor-turned-politician made his first political speech at the Raghavendra Kalyana Mandapam, his team has been working efficiently across all districts of Tamil Nadu.

“Actually, the number must have crossed one crore by now, but right now, a review process is going on with Rajini Makkal Mandram members visiting various districts and confirming registrations. It began initially with fans downloading the app or logging onto the website, but once the office-bearers for the districts were announced, their duty has been to verify all the memberships.
All the data will be made transparent and clear for everyone to see once this process is over,” says a source from the Kaala star’s camp.
Rajinikanth, who left Chennai to shoot for his next film with Karthik Subbaraj right after Kaala’s release, is expected back in the city on Monday.
The 67-year-old, who had left party responsibilities with secretary of the Rajini Makkal Mandram Raju Mahalingam, will now come and discuss with his team on the best date to launch his party. It is to be noted that Rajinikanth had earlier speculated over launching his outfit once the membership crossed one crore.
“Rajinikanth will be in Chennai for around a week now to review the membership drive, before he leaves for his second schedule of shooting. We are planning to complete it by the end of July, with an extension of a month or so possible. But ideally, everything should be in place within this month so that the party launch plan can materialise,” the source added.
