Man kills quadriplegic son, self in Virudhunagar

According to police, the deceased were identified as Murugan (54), a carpenter, and his son Rahul. Police officials said Murugan killed his son by drowning him in a six-feet-deep sump and later ended his life by hanging from the ceiling of the bed room. The victim’s mother Bhagya Lakshmi (48) woke up to a rude shock to find her son’s body in the sump and her husband’s body hanging from the ceiling in the bed room. Following a complaint from neighbours police rushed to the house and removed the bodies to Virudhunagar Government Hospital for post-mortem.

Investigations revealed that the couple, Murugan and Bhagya Lakshmi, have three sons, of them two were employed in Chennai.

Their third son Rahul was quadriplegic and dumb. Murugan was reportedly upset over the condition of his son and was under too much stress over taking care of him, police added.
