The system will cover all the subjects from Classes 1 to 12. Videos, web-based tests and mobile apps will be developed to help the students’ self-learning process.

LMS is a software to transact lessons, monitor learning and document the outcomes of school students. In the first phase 40 lakh students will be included in the project.

“It will help teachers to deliver content, administer tests, track  progress and manage records better,” a senior official from School Education Department told DTNext.

“This virtual learning ecosystem not only renders homogenous learning but also provides a clear focus on the curriculum. The nature of the content will be audio-visual and interactive.

Additional learning material, worksheet, simulation and references from online as well as local resources will also be available,” he said. “The LMS will be implemented at a cost of Rs 2 crore benefiting 40 lakh students in the first phase.” The department will implement the LMS learning system in all the schools from next year.

“During the next academic year, more than 80 lakh students will be benefited”, he added. The official said that the government has taken initiative to help the children with special needs, especially the visually challenged students.

As a first step, the software will be loaded on to the digital content of all the 5 subjects of class 10 textbooks. The application facility will be updated and incorporated with all the other e-books over various phases.
