    CM inaugurates Rs 45 crore worth buildings in colleges

    Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said that the state government has spent Rs 45 crore for improving infrastructure facilities in colleges and universities across Tamil Nadu.

    Accordingly, new buildings for colleges, which was set up by the Higher Education Department in Salem, Tirunelveli, Tirupur, Madurai, Ramanathapuram, Tiruchy and Pudukkottai districts, were inaugurated at a cost of Rs 14.54 crore, an official communique here said. 

    Similarly, the Chief Minister also unveiled infrastructure facilities, including a science block building, centralised computer lab, equipment storage centre, ladies hostel, dining hall, indoor stadium and bank building inside the campus of Periyar University in Salem. 

    In addition, Palaniswami opened new quarters for teaching staff of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University in Tirunelveli at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore, through video conference from the Secrtariat. 

    Likewise, the CM inaugurated class rooms at Chikkanna Government Arts College in Tirupur. Similarly, additional buildings were opened at Government Industrial Institute in Madurai at a cost of Rs 2.12 crore. 

    Government Arts College at Ramanathapuram district will now have new administration buildingat  Rs 7.25 crore. The government have also spent Rs 69 lakh each to Government Arts Colleges in Tiruchy and Pudukottai respectively.

    HD set-top boxes launched 

    Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday launched the High Definition (HD) set-top box service for the government cable TV customers and the UMANG mobile app. The HD set-top boxes come at a price of Rs 500 for the device to be distributed by the cable operators. The monthly subscription rate for the TV channels had been fixed at Rs 225 (plus GST).  The CM also launched UMANG- Unified Mobile Application for New Age Governance, in Tamil Nadu.  Through the app the state government initially offers three services of the Revenue Department such as revenue certificate, caste certificate and birth and death certificates. Gradually, other services can also be availed.
