Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Thaniyarasu said, the government should carefully execute any project so that it does not affect the people. The eight lane Salem-Chennai Green Corridor Expressway project should have been executed only after the public hearing. The state government should ensure that the project does not affect the livelihood of the people especially the farmers.

Thaniyarasu demanded Rs 1,500 per sqft instead of the government fixed Rs 300 per sq ft for the house removed for the project. Similarly, there should be four-fold compensation to land taken from the farmers, he added.

He also urged the government to lay the Salem-Chennai Expressway in an alternative route and extend it up to Coimbatore. He stated that the development projects should be executed in such a way that the public are not affected.

Meanwhile, Thaniyarasu expressed support to the DMK for its stand to show black flag to the Governor’s visits to the districts. He said that the Governor should not interfere in state administration and the Kongu Ilaignar Pervai will also protest against the Governor’s inspection visits.
