Justice P N Prakash while hearing the bail plea summoned the Deputy Commissioner to ascertain the progress of investigation in the said case.
According to the prosecution Rithesh had promised Athinarayanan, a US citizen of Indian Origin, a transfer of ownership of a plot in 2014 following which he parted with Rs 3 crore. But with none of it happening, Athinarayanan lodged a complaint and subsequently the case was handed over to the CCB.
Petitioner Suresh, who is arrayed as accused number six in the case, submitted in his bail plea that Rithesh, without his knowledge deposited Rs 70 lakh in his account and subsequently made him withdraw and hand it over to him. He merely did what he was told by Rithesh and he was not connected with the offence committed.
Instead, he was also a victim as he had paid Rs.11 lakhs to Ritheesh to release one of his land documents.
