Eight of the top ten ranks were bagged by girl students in the merit list released by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) for its UG admissions.
Coimbatore
The rank list for 12 UG courses was released by Vice-Chancellor K Ramasamy on Friday. While the university received 48,682 online applications, 32,621 were accepted.
SN Arthy of Dindugul stood first in the rank list with a cut-off mark of 200/200. She was followed by Srikarthika Palanisamy of Erode district with 199.67 marks and Meghana of Coimbatore with 199.5 marks.
Only two boys managed to get into the top ten ranks. The first phase of online counselling will be held between July 9 and July 13, while the second phase will take place between July 23 and July 27.
Special reservation counselling under categories like sports, ex-servicemen and differently-abled will be held on July 7 and for non-resident Indians on July 17 and July 18. Candidates who have selected a seat in the special reservation counselling will not be permitted to attend the general counselling.
From this year, TNAU has also introduced the sliding system, in which students can select top five colleges of their choice. “If a vacancy arises, the student can move over to the college of his choice even after joining another college, which was available at the time of counselling,” said the VC.
Admissions will be closed on July 31 and courses will commence on August 1.
