Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan on Wednesday warned the State against the growing terrorist activities in Tamil Nadu and said a government which protects terrorism need not be in power.

“Terrorists are holding training camps and operating in forests and mountains of Tamil Nadu. They have infiltrated into various sections of the society,” he alleged, adding, they have planned to create chaos in the state. The state would soon face riots and terrorists would take over power if no action is taken, he warned.
Speaking to newspersons at the airport here, he asked the state government to use all its powers to crush terrorism. “The people of the state will face destruction if the State compromised with terrorists and behaved in a flexible manner with them. A government which protects terrorists is not needed. They must protect the people,” he said.
He seeked the government to crush protests against development projects in the state. “The government must find out if the agitations are a conspiracy or are ordinary. It is a part of the Chief Minister’s job,” he said. Naxalites, Maoists, Muslim fundamentalists and those using the name of Tamil to raise separatism had ganged up and it would lead to a big disaster, he added.
“The trend began from jallikattu protest which was used as an experiment by terrorist organisations. The people who conduced the agitation had dispersed, but terrorists wanted to mobilise the people with a conspiracy agenda,” he said.
The Union Minister said he has been warning about terrorist activities in Tamil Nadu for one and a half years and the present situation would not have arisen if the police and the intelligence had taken it seriously. The state is facing the consequences of ignoring his warnings, he said. He said those interested in democracy must expose the terrorist activities and that it would be a big threat to the media too.
