EVMs arrive in Vellore for 2019 elections
District Collector SA Raman oversaw the unloading of electronic voting machines (EVMs) and control units, which arrived in Vellore on Wednesday, to be used during the elections next year,

The machines were brought in a lorry by a team of revenue department officials from the Bengaluru-based Bharat Electronics Limited. The consignment was unloaded in the presence of representatives from various political parties.
Totally, 4,730 control units and 8,700 ballot units were kept at the office-cum-auction shed inside the Vellore regulated market premises at Thorapadi.
Raman inspected the shed, where EVM units used in the previous polls were kept. He ordered the clearance of garbage in the shed.
DRO D Sengottaiyan, Vellore tahsildar Balaji, Vellore RDO, Collector’s PA (elections) Narayanan and other top officials were present during the inspection.
