Took me 50 years to realise I don’t belong to cinema: Kamal Haasan

While talking to DT Next, Kamal said, “I am aware that they have started talking about it but I am facing it with a smile.” Speaking about politics and conveying his ideologies to the people through reality shows, he said the decision came to him as a calling. “It was an inner calling. It took me 50 years to realise that cinema wasn’t my everything. By then I had also started questioning the kind of life I had been leading up to now,” he noted.

He further said, “Though I didn’t regret that moment, the sudden realisation was shocking. I have now started communicating more with people and the reality show is one such medium where I can communicate with 5.2 crore people over the weekend.” Kamal noted that presenting the people with the truth would be his success mantra.

“I dare any politician to look into my eyes and talk. No dishonest person would dare look into my eyes when they converse. I fear no one except Mahatma Gandhiji. However, I might get jittery only if I meet an honest politician in the future,” he noted.

He said that only youngsters could become honest politicians. “Students and youngsters should be more involved in active politics. Makkal Needhi Maiyyam will lay a strong foundation for them. We are also awaiting recognition from the Election Commission and after that we will encourage people to join us and strengthen the party,” he said.
