Infighting in VCK, panel formed to iron out differences in youth wing
Infighting is not a preserve of the bigger parties like the DMK and the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu. The ugly face of squabbling has started popping up even in relatively smaller parties like the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, the most popular Dalit party in the state which has more reason to stay united given the cause they fight for.

VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan is understood to have constituted a five-member committee to iron out the differences between a few state secretaries of the party youth wing, Ilam Chiruthaigal Elutchi Pasarai.Â
An exchange between M Sangatamizhan and Tamizhini, both state secretaries of the youth wing, had become so popular that the state principal secretary Unjaiarasan attempted to broker peace between the two warring state secretaries.
The squabble and subsequent peace brokering became the hot topic in the party circles in the recent week. So much so that the Dalit party, which seldom shows visible signs of crack within the party has now formed a committee comprising the disciplinary committee to probe the ugly sparring between the youth wing state secretaries. The first hearing of the committee is expected to be held in the party headquarters on June 20.Â
The young Dalit panthers have now been instructed to take instructions from the high command. The latest diktat comes in the backdrop of Thirumavalavan advising his cadre not to go public against each other and avoid discussing infighting on public forum, mainly social networking sites.
A party functionary privy to the developments admitted to such petty quarrels rearing their ugly heads often in the state. He said the leader has been asked by his close advisers to initiate disciplinary action against the functionaries. VCK is already riddled with controversy over Thiruma taking counsel mostly from his ‘trusted’ general secretary D Ravikumar. A few second rung leaders equally popular among the cadre have expressed unhappiness over the leader not consulting them and being influenced by Ravikumar on crucial issues for a while now.
