Two die as lorry hits two-wheeler in
Two youth were killed after their two-wheeler was hit by a lorry in Ariyalur on Saturday.

Police said that Elavarasan (27) and Ragupathi (23), both daily wage workers and residents of Asthinapuram Colony near Ariyalur, were on their way home on Saturday afternoon.
Suddenly, they were hit by a lorry in which Ragupathi died on the spot while Elavarasan was grievously injured.
On information, Kayarlabad police rushed to the spot and recovered Ragupathi’s body and sent it for autopsy to the Ariyalur GH. The police also rescued Elavarasan and sent him to the GH for treatment. However, Elavarasan succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
Meanwhile, the relatives of the victims, staged a road block demanding that cement lorries should not allowed to enter the common lane.
Police pacified the protesters and assured them of action, after which they dispersed. Further investigation is on.
