Withdraw draft of new CRZ: Vaiko
MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Thursday opposed the draft of Coastal Regulation Zone notification issued by the Union government and said it would deprive the fishermen’s rights over the coast and their livelihood.

Expressing shock over the draft notification, he said the first notification was declared in 1991 for the purpose of protecting the coastal environment and life, besides safeguarding the fishermen’s rights. But, it had been redrawn for Sagarmala project and the blue economic policy of the Centre.Since industries provide funds for Sagarmala project, the coast, harbours and islands would be brought under corporate companies, Vaiko said demanding the withdrawal of the notification.
