TNCC chief questions government on slump in industrial sector growth
Hitting out at the AIADMK government by stating that it has surrendered to the BJP at the Centre, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president Su Thirunavukkarasar stated that the party is approaching the Centre to retain the government, whenever it faces a crisis. The BJP is also brokering to bridge the split among AIADMK MLAs, he added.

In a statement on Friday, he said, “The growth in almost all the departments is lagging behind and this has led to unemployment, to a large extent.
The current situation is that around 1 crore educated youth are still waiting for jobs.” Quoting the debate on the demand for grants for industries department which revealed that many firms in the state have been shut leading to unemployment, the Congress leader said, “The policy note on Industries Department indicated that a whopping 49,000 companies were closed in the last one year alone and this rendered 5 lakh workers jobless,” he said and questioned, “Will the state government explain the reason for this?”
The former MLA said, “According to statistics, industrial investments have gradually been on decline since 2015 and the government has failed to retain many industries. It is clear that the state does not care about the sector.” He also took a dig at the Global Investors Meet conducted by former chief minister J Jayalalithaa and said the real situation would be known soon.
