MLAs Karunas, Ansari, Thaniyarasu part ways
The three allies of the ruling AIADMK elected on ‘Two Leaves’ symbol, functioning together and supporting Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran so far, have split and taken different routes.

Mukkulathor Puli Padai MLA and actor Karunas was seen in action with the DMK and he had attended the mock Assembly convened by the principal Opposition last week. Although, this reduces the support to Dhinakaran by one, the actor teaming up with the DMK does not make any difference to the ruling party in case of a trust vote.
However, Kongu Ilaignar Peravai leader and legislator Thaniyarasu was not seen either with the DMK or with Dhinakaran. But, he was also not supporting the ruling party and keeping his cards close to the chest. He was not seen with Karunas or the other AIADMK ally Thamimun Ansari of Manithaneya Jananayaga Katchi.
It was Ansari who created the rift when he met Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and placed a few requests. The MLA also commended the Chief Minister’s cordial approach and lauded him for accepting the demand for allocation of rice for mosques during Ramzan fast. The meeting between Palaniswami and Ansari revived hopes in the AIADMK that the MLA could be brought back to the ruling party.
Earlier, all the three legislators were backing Dhinakaran and appealing to the ruling party to patch up with the AMMK. Recently in March they all vowed to stay together to fight for the rights of Tamils. At present the AIADMK has the support of 110 MLAs in the 234-member Assembly.
