Man held on cheating charges
Police arrested a man who posed as a temple priest and cheated a man of Rs 1.7 lakh in Kariapatti in Virudhunagar district on Saturday.

According to police, the fake priest, identified as Chinnadurai, informed Selvam, a resident of Kariapatti, that there was a treasure worth several crores hidden near his house and if poojas were conducted the exact location of the treasure could be identified. Selvam got interested and asked Chinnadurai to perform the poojas.
Chinnadurai sought and received Rs 1.7 lakh from Selvam for the purpose.
However, Chinnadurai soon absconded which lead Selvam to file a cheating complaint with the Kariapatti police. The cops arrested Chinnadurai on Saturday.
