Tainted assistant professor Nirmala Devi’s bail plea rejected for 4th time
Tainted assistant professor Nirmala Devi’s bail petition was rejected for the fourth successive time by the Sessions Court at Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district, on Wednesday.

Nirmala Devi worked as an assistant professor at a private college in Aruppukottai and was caught on tape allegedly trying to lure four girl students of her college to extend sexual favours to higher officials of the Madurai Kamaraj University.
When the tape was released, it created a huge shock across the state and the Santhanam Committee was appointed to investigate the incident.
In the meantime, Nirmala Devi was arrested and lodged at the Madurai Central Prison. She applied for bail four times, including the latest bail petition at the Srivilliputhur Sessions Court on Tuesday. When the petition was heard on Wednesday, it was rejected again. In the space of two months, her bail petition was rejected four times.
Meanwhile, the CB-CID filed another petition at the Virudhunagar Judicial Magistrate Court on Wednesday, seeking permission to record the voice of Nirmala to probe the audio tape in which she allegedly lured the college students.
