Madurai bench grants anticipatory bail to lawyers
The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, on Thursday, gave relief to two lawyers, who were booked by the Thoothukudi Police for allegedly instigating violence, from getting arrested.

Vanjinathan, from People’s Rights Protection Forum, Madurai, and Harihara Ragavan, from Thoothukudi, had filed two separate anticipatory bail petitions at the High Court stating that the police had booked cases against them for instigating violence and damaging vehicles on May 22.
But they were not present at the spot and they had no connection with the Thoothukudi protest and the following police firing that killed 13 people and injured several others. So, the court should grant them anticipatory bail, prayed the lawyers.
Justice G R Swaminathan, directed the police to file proof of involvement of the lawyers in the case filed against them by June 14 and directed them not to arrest the duo till then. The petition was adjourned till June 14.
