    Godman stabs 2 drivers for not sparing seat

    Two government bus drivers were stabbed by a local godman here on a bus bound for Kolar Gold Fields (Karnataka), in Vellore on Monday. A case was registered in this regard and the godman was arrested by the police.

    The two government bus drivers, Devaraj and Sivakumar from Vellore, worked at the Pernambut depot. They were travelling in a government bus bound for Kolar Gold Fields in Karnataka from Vellore on Monday.

    Murthy (60), a self-styled godman of Jiddapallu near Gudiyattam, who was travelling by the same bus, was irritated at being forced to stand while Devaraj and Sivakumar were sitting. This resulted in an argument as Murthy demanded that he be provided a seat.

    While others tried to pacify him, an enraged Murthy pulled out a knife and stabbed Devaraj on his shoulder and Sivakumar on his hands. Thereafter, other passengers overpowered Murthy.

    The injured drivers were rushed to the Pernambut general hospital and a case was registered by the police, following which Murthy was arrested.

    TASMAC watchman killed

    In a separate incident, a watchman of a TASMAC outlet at Kattupakkam was stabbed to death on Sunday night.

    Rajiv Reddy (40), a farmer from Meleri village near Banavaram, had rented out his building in Kattupakkam to set up a TASMAC outlet, for which he was appointed as the night watchman.

    When Rajiv Reddy was asleep in front of the outlet on Sunday night, he was reportedly stabbed to death reportedly by some unidentified persons.

    When Manoharan, the brother of the watchman, came to the shop the next day, he was shocked to Rajiv lying dead near the shop. On information, Banavaram police and Arakkonam DSP L Kuthalingam rushed to the spot and held inquiries,

    Banavaram police have registered a case and further enquiry is on to find out the motive behind the murder and to nab the culprits.
