A day after Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan raised the issue of subversive elements’ presence in the state, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Saturday said the state should find out if radical movements are hiding behind people’s protests and trying to create riots.

Speaking to reporters after meeting Governor Banwarilal Purohit here, Swamy said he discussed about the presence of subversive elements in Tamil Nadu with the former. He said Naxalites, supporters of the defunct LTTE, groups of people from ISIS and Christian missionaries who were running NGO’s might be involved in the protests. Subramanian Swamy said terrorists infiltrated the Jallikattu agitations as well as the protests against the Kudankulam nuclear power project.
When asked about the functioning of Edappadi K Palaniswami government, he said it is better than the DMK. He also said the DMK has no future in state politics.
Patriotism in the state is increasing and the DMK would not be accepted. When asked if the BJP would have an alliance with actor Rajinikanth, he said, “I am always of the view that actors should be kept away from politics. The BJP executive committee had not discussed alliance with the actor till now. I will not say anything about Rajinikanth now and will wait for a year. Actors will say one thing now and change their views later. I myself will have to change my views then. So, I will not say anything about him now.” When asked about the actor’s views that protests for everything would turn the state into a graveyard, Swamy said, “It resembles a cinema dialogue. Don’t ask about actor’s views to me. I am a politician.”
Commending the Governor for reducing the expenses of Raj Bhavan, he said Banwarilal Purohit had reduced the expenses of Raj Bhavan by one-sixth. The Governor is moving around the state and meeting people, he said and added that a Governor should be functioning like that. On police firing in Thoothukudi, the BJP leader said an inquiry is on and he can’t say anything about it now. The probe would reveal if terrorists were involved in the anti-Sterlite protests or not, he added.
