    Official held for bribery in Coimbatore

    The sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti Corruption (DVAC) arrested a bill collector for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 to assess and issue property tax assessment book to an industrialist in Coimbatore on Saturday.

    Assistant Revenue Officer Kalammal and bill collector Mala demanded a bribe of Rs 60,000 and then settled for Rs 50,000 from Siva Kumar to get his industrial unit assessed.

    Siva Kumar informed the DVAC sleuths, who laid a trap to nab the duo. Mala was caught re-handed but Kalammal is on the run.
