Internet in Thoothukudi to resume today, assures DGP
State DGP TK Rajendran assured that the Internet services would resume in Thoothukudi district by midnight on Sunday. Addressing the media, Rajendran said that as the prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC had been revoked the Internet services would resume by Sunday midnight.

He also said that law and order situation is improving in Thoothukudi and so the number of policemen would be gradually decreased. However, the policemen working in the district would continue to monitor the situation closely and would be involved in routine checking activities. He also asked the people to extend cooperation to the policemen.
Earlier, he visited Thoothukudi GH and interacted with the victims. He said that the May 22 police firing was unfortunate and investigation would be done through the one man Judicial committee.
