The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted the southern and western districts of Tamil Nadu will experience heavy rain as Southwest monsoon is expected to set in in Kerala in the next couple of days.

The conditions appears to be favourable for the onset of Southwest monsoon over South Kerala and South Tamil Nadu in the next two to three days. Further, there is cyclonic circulation over interior Tamil Nadu and its neighbourhood.
Speaking to DT Next, SB Thambi, Deputy Director General Meteorology, RMC, said, “Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at one or two places over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. However, Chennai will remain partly cloudy and temperature will be below normal for two more days.”
With Southwest monsoon slowly moving in, thunderstorm activities are likely to slow down in the coming days over most of parts of the state. However, the onset of monsoon will bring more rain to border areas like Kanniyakumari, The Nilgiris district, parts of Coimbatore and Valparai, the weather department official added.
