Class 10 Results: Western districts fare better this year
The Class 10 examination results recorded by the western districts of Tamil Nadu have surprised many.
Coimbatore
Erode secured the second place in the district-wise ranking. The district had bagged the second place in Class 12 examinations too. With a pass percentage of 98.38, Erode has climbed up by two spots from its fourth place last year.
In 2016, Erode topped in the district-wise SSLC ranks. Salem district scored 95.08 per cent, which is an increase of 1.01 per cent from last year. The district secured 18th place.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) A Gnanagowri said more efforts will be taken to increase the pass per cent and one among them would be to develop the infrastructure of the schools.
“Schools that fared poorly will be identified and remedial measures will be taken. Also, absenteeism among students will be checked to improve their performance,” she said. Tirupur managed to retain its seventh place by securing 97.18 per cent, an increase of 0.12 per cent from last year.

CEO of Coimbatore P Ayyannan said special coaching classes will be conducted for students with poor marks to improve the overall results.
