    DIC happy over response to industry expo at Yelagiri fest

    The small and micro-scale industry exhibition organised on the sidelines of the just concluded two-day summer festival in Yelagiri received an encouraging response from aspiring entrepreneurs, said Vellore District Industries Centre (DIC) General Manager V Manivannan

    Speaking to DT Next, Manivannan said, “The intention was to create awareness about the various loan facilities and schemes provided by both the Central and State governments. We knew that public from Salem, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts would be visiting.” Around 20 stalls were put up by engineering firms from various parts of Vellore district.

    According to R Amirthakatesan, chairman of Vellore Energy Technologist, “Those planning to start small and micro-scale units received first-hand knowledge and guidance about the schemes.” He added that the visit of State commercial taxes minister K C Veeramani and other senior government officials enthused firms that were present at the exhibition.

    Stating that business enquiries amounting to Rs 1 crore was made at the exhibition, Manivannan said, “It was encouraging to see aspiring entrepreneurs deciding to approach DICs in their respective districts after attending the expo.”
