DigiLocker platform to access marksheets gains popularity

The State Examination Board has partnered with DigiLocker, a national e-governance division under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, to make marksheets and certificates available online for the students.

“Students who have registered their mobile number with our board would receive their DigiLocker account credentials through SMS. Those who don’t have their mobiles registered with the examination board would need to create a DigiLocker account with their mobile number, sync with their Aadhaar number and then pull their marksheet from the database,” said a senior official in the Directorate of Government Examinations here.

Already hundreds of students in Tamil Nadu have signed up with DigiLocker to obtain their marksheets and certificates, he said.

Stating that students can access their digital documents anytime, anywhere and share it online, the official said, “The process is convenient and timesaving.”

“The DigiLocker makes it easier to validate the authenticity of documents as they are issued directly by the registered institutions,” he said, adding, “DigiLocker is safe to use since the documents are secured.” He said to protect a student’s account from unauthorised access, the system has been designed to terminate the session automatically if extended inactivity is detected. The official pointed out that CBSE Class 10 or 12 students between 2014 and 2017 could get their marksheets and migration certificates issued directly to the DigiLocker.

“The procedure, which was explained in the examination board website, was easy. I was able to login by following the steps,” S Krishna, a Class 12 student in Chennai, said.
