VIT students develop new in-hotel app

Carson is an in-hotel app which provides travellers with information regarding hotels and act as a mediator between them and the hotels. “The app serves as a private butler - bringing all services at the fingertips. 

The app makes the ‘after-booking’ frenzy a lot smoother. From housekeeping to serene spa sessions, this app will keep one updated on every detail relevant to the hotel,” said Udit Pandoh, founder and CEO of Amvuk. Hailing digitisation as a primary need in today’s world, Pandoh said that there are certain people who download hotel apps whenever they are travelling. 

However, he said that it might be difficult for hotels to develop their own apps as many will not be able to afford it. The founders of Amvuk also realised that it is difficult for regular travellers to download an app every time they visit a hotel. 

“We decided to create an app that is on par with any other app in our country, and at the same time, ensure that one single app is designated for all hotels,” said Pandoh. 

Amvuk, which is set to launch in June, has been in the making for the past six to eight months. The app will serve the travellers as a personal butler who will be well educated about the facilities available in a hotel and will be able to guide them well, claimed the founders. 

“Our app will serve as a personal butler and therefore, we chose the name Carson, after the butler in a show called Down ton Abbey , who is called Carson,” he said. Hotels can avail the app services at a subscription rate of Rs 30,000 per month, added Pandoh.  

“Moreover, Carson is a self-maintained and updated app. Users are not required to install a new app every time they visit a new hotel. It works anywhere and at any time,” he said.
